JWs as described by Cracked
by Vidiot inhttp://www.cracked.com/blog/4-religions-youve-got-all-wrong-because-hollywood/.
the article describes four different religions (rastafari, jws, amish, and scientology); jws are #3.. the jw entry is pretty accurate (and as usual, funny), but surprisingly doesn't mention the two-witness-rule-related legal troubles the wt has been having lately.

I too at times think about what this religion robbed me off. I feel as a young teen what I could have done if I was allowed to apply myself. Growing up it was never encouraged because the Kingdum work was the most important work. Even though my teens and early twenties was wasted on a deluded dream, I am glad I got out when I did. I cannot change the past but I can look forward to a future where I can still fulfill some of my dreams without a cult telling me its wrong. I once heard it said that the biggest tragedy in life is looking back and realizing there were things you would have like to do but never did it. Like I said the only thing I can do now is look ahead and not behind. -

How, exactly, does Watchtower's literature publishing bring them money?
by Island Man ini've heard is said many times that watchtower is a publishing company bringing in money from the proliferation of its literature.
how exactly does this process work?
i know that jws are encouraged to tell the householders of the donation arrangement to support the worldwide work.

It is very inefficient as the number of magazines they print every year verses.the number of people converted into the organization. For every person baptized and not counting those that were raised in the religion, it must take a million magazines to bring in one convert. -

I mentioned this on here before but this was one of the finale straws for me when I started to fade. Growing up we were told not to go and get higher education, so because of a lack of education I was stuck doing a menial crappy job. Then I heard about a friend of the family that was at bethel being put through law school. I recall making a comment to my ex about how the society says one thing but does another thing when it benefits them.
Oh and to add our contribution went toward paying to put this guy through law school.

Local needs talk
by hoser inone of the elders was missing his service bag and suspected that one of the publishers stole it.
he was determined to root out who did it so he decided to give a local needs part on the ten commandments focusing on you must not steal.. he enlisted the help of a trusted ministerial servant and got him to stand at the back of the kingdom hall during the part.
he told the ms that he would read off the ten commandments and when he got to the one "you must not steal" he would pause longer than usual and see if anyone acted nervous or suspicious.

Right after months of this nonsense, my friend who was the "collector" called Bethel, showed the C.O. the physical contract and this brother began to pay $300 a month. Elder rip-off clown shortly went on a European Cruise with his wife (cost $13,000 PP) for thirty days around the Adriatic Sea, when questioned by my friend said "You only have a 40th anniversity once!" Relevance there? You see how corrupt the JW Elders can be when they do not want to pay back what they owe?
Yeah these types seem to have money to spend but not pay back their debts. What a loser. Remind me of a "worldly" person that did work for a good dub. After this dub couldn't pay back his debt he felt that "worldly" guy should just forgive and forget.

With the mapping of the DNA I don't know how the WT can explain that we humans share over 95% DNA of a Chimpanzee.
